• Some banks endorse third-party checks, but not all. Contact your bank and ask if you can deposit a third-party check into your checking or savings account. Explain that the check is made out to your wife and ask whether she has to endorse the check in person or can you bring the check on your own for deposit. The bank manager may ask the check amount and effective date. In general, personal checks are only valid for up to six months.
