Is Smoking Killing Your Sex Life? What You Need to Know About Smoking and Sex

Everyone knows about the effects that smoking has on the body but it is harder to find out what kinds of effects smoking may have on your sex life.
Can Smoking cause impotence? Does smoking affect female sexuality? Is there a connection between smoking and sex? If you want to know if smoking has any kind of negative effect on your sex life please read on.
Just as smoking has negative effects on the rest of your body it also has detrimental effects to your sex life.
Several studies have been conducted lately on the link between smoking and impotence and it has been concluded that smoking does have an effect on the ability to get and maintain an erection.
There has not been as much research on the effects smoking has on women's sexual health but this is fairly indicative of how studies on female sexuality lags behind that of their male counterparts.
However, it is safe to assume that the strong link between smoking and male impotence can also negatively effects women's sexual health.
As everyone knows the active and most dangerous chemical in cigarette smoke is nicotine.
Nicotine is a vasoconstrictor meaning that it tightens the blood vessels and restricts blood flow through them.
Since erections depend on blood flow it only stands to reason that it stands to reason that smoking would affect the ability to get an erection.
And studies have confirmed this.
Research shows that 40% of men who suffer from impotence are smokers.
So what about women? During sexual arousal female sexual organs also become engorged with blood increasing sexual sensation.
Women smokers also suffer from decreased blood flow so it would be reasonable to assume that they would suffer from decreased sexual arousal due to restricted blood flow.
Is there a way to break this connection between smoking and sex through quitting smoking? To improve blood flow and reverse the negative effects smoking has on your sex life you should consider quitting smoking.
If you are concerned that smoking is killing your sex life then you can throw that into the long list of reasons you should stop smoking.
Not to mention all the negative impacts smoking has on your physical appearance; bad breath, stained teeth, excessive wrinkles, stinky hair and clothes.
These things definitely do nothing to help your sex life.
