Here are a few tips to make your charity golf tournament a success.
Enlist energetic volunteers that will create a fun environment and make your golfers feel good about what they are supporting.
You need to make your event different from the run of the mill golf tournaments.
Pick a venue were your golfers do not have an opportunity to play any other time and give them access to sports celebrities that they would not normally have an opportunity to play with.
Put together an event that at the end of the day the players will ask when is next year's tournament? How many charity golf tournaments have you been to where the volunteer hands you a bag full of sponsor provided goodies that you promptly throw into the trunk of your car that may or may not ever see the light of day again? Try something different to get your valuable sponsors the visibility they deserve.
Instead of the volunteer handing each golfer a bag full of goodies, the golfer is handed an empty bag at registration and on every tee box a volunteer from each sponsoring organization hands the golfers the item, has an opportunity to give a personal pitch about the sponsor followed by explaining the layout of the hole they are about to play.
Hire a professional photographer to document your event and take pictures of each group with their celebrity player and have pictures available at the reception following play.
Make sure the reception following play is well organized and doesn't drag on.
Your event needs to be the talk at the water cooler in the office the next day.
Happy golfers will bring more golfers next year.
