Building a 10X12 Shed From Scratch - Learn These 5 Crucial Construction Tips Before You Start

A 10x12 shed is perhaps one of the most popular sized sheds - simply because it is big enough to store all of your gardening equipment and kids toys but able to be erected by as little as 2 people.
Of course, proper preparation before you even pick up the hammer is essential to avoid disappointment and frustration at the finished product.
1) The first tip seems like a no brainer, but you see too many people buying prefabricated plastic sheds to skip a bit of work.
The truth of the matter is that plastic is ugly and does not have the durability of wood, not to mention the fact that you cannot customize a prefabricated shed.
2) When selecting the wood for your project, make sure the wood is weather-treated so that it will resist damage from water and further prolong the life of your shed.
3) Use a low maintenance but highly effective and long lasting roofing material.
Some of the options to consider are asphalt shingle, hardy plank siding or vinyl siding will do the trick as well.
4) Consider whether or not your shed will have an available electricity source, or whether or not you need or want one.
Skylights can be expensive and more complicated to install, so if you are keen to get some extra light into your shed, consider solar powered shed lights or some cheaper plastic windows.
5) Buy the pre-made trusses.
This is quicker and easier than making them yourself but if you are really strapped for cash you can do this but it will take extra time.
Building a 10x12 shed should be a rewarding experience and one that should be enjoyed.
For it to be rewarding however you must not overlook the important aspects of shed building.
