- 1). You'll need three handkerchiefs for this. Take a small piece of one handkerchief and sew a pocket on the inside of one of your other handkerchiefs, leaving an opening at the edge.
- 2). Sew another handkerchief around the edges of the first handkerchief. Make sure you don't sew over the opening for the pocket--otherwise you won't have anywhere to put your false knife blade.
- 3). Take your false knife blade and attach a string to it, then hang it inside the pocket you just sewed in between the two handkerchiefs. Test it to be sure that the blade disappears when you hold the handkerchiefs open.
- 4). Purchase or make a small bag that has a metal ring at the top to hold it open. This is so you'll have something to drop the real knife into.
- 5). Sit down and place the bag with the metal ring between your knees.
- 6). Take your knife and put it into the middle of your handerkerchief; show this to the audience.
- 7). Create a distraction for a few seconds. Either you or your assistant can do this.
- 8). While your audience is distracted, drop your knife into the open bag between your knees.
- 9). Make sure that the tip of your false knife is showing so that your audience is fooled into thinking that you are still holding the original knife.

Open the handkerchief and hold it out flat so that the tip of your false knife pulls up into the little pocket inside. It will appear that you have made the knife disappear!
