Using Color in Digital Photography - Tips and Guidelines

In photography, color is something that is very powerful.
Because of the very common use of it, however, many people have just lost the idea that color can be used very powerfully.
Since basically everything is in color not we simply don't notice the effect that color has on images.
Color can be used very effectively and I will show you how in this article.
Like everything else in the photography, color is an aspect of the picture that most photographers will want their entire grasp of control over.
Not having control over the colors in your photos can leave your photos up to chance and result in photos that could have been much better.
Having, for example, your focal point of attention in the shot be a dull color with the background colors being very bright may make the object of importance much less important.
As a matter a fact, the improper use of color itself can make photos cluttered and not visually delicious.
Every different color has very common meanings and moods that are given through their usage.
Red is very commonly used for love and romance as well as anger, stop, fire, etc.
How can this help you? Well...
when you take a picture of people in love use red.
It doesn't have to be extremely obvious reds but maybe some red hues.
Not all colors are created equally.
Look at, for example, the color red and the color blue.
Which do you think will attract more attention? The red will and the blue is more of a relaxing color.
You do not want to have stronger colors like red or bright yellow and orange to be used when your object of interest is a less attention grabbing color like, say, green.
Colors can be used in your photos to help convey the feeling you want to give through your image.
If you have an introverted model and want to make a shot of them that shows this then you will want the colors to be more calming and relaxing rather than attention grabbing colors.
You want the background colors also to match the person.
Of course, when it comes to colors and people there is much more information.
Colors and the persons skin should be matched appropriately so that the person doesn't blend into the background or their outfit.
Colors that compliment their skin color will be the best to use.
