How to Properly Re-Coil an Extension Cord

    • 1). Lay the extension cord fully extended on the ground. Remove any kinks or twists. The cord is easier to work with if it is completely uncoiled, without twists.

    • 2). Pick up the male end of the extension cord in one hand and use your other hand to pull enough cord to make a loop. The loop should be of a manageable size no bigger than a couple of feet in diameter. Starting at the male end puts the female end on the outside of coil to be used first when the cord is needed again.

    • 3). Continue making loops that are the same size as the first loop. Stop making loops when about 3 feet of extension cord remains.

    • 4). Wrap the remaining part of the extension cord tightly around the coil, in a manner similar to the top of a noose.

    • 5). Wrap the cord around the coil until only a couple of inches are left. Insert this remaining cord through the coiled loop at the top. Pull it tight.
