- 1). Wrap electrical tape around each end of the rope piece to keep the rope from unraveling.
- 2). Strip the insulation about eight inches from the end of the wire. Wrap a piece of electrical tape around the four-inch mark to keep the wire from coming undone.
- 3). Unwind the wire strands inside the wire. Form three pairs of wire with the strands inside the wire: two outer strands and one inner. Tape the ends of the three pairs of strands to keep them from coming undone.
- 4). Open the rope's lay about four inches from one end of the rope and pull the leftmost wire strand through the rope. Bury the center wire strands in the center of the rope.
- 5). Begin to lace the pair of wire strands over one rope strand and under the next, alternating between the three pairs of wire strands. Pull tightly against the starting point to secure the wire strands to the rope. Repeat the procedure until you have laced the entire three wire pairs to the rope except the taped ends.
- 6). Roll the laced area between your palms to get the splice to lay tightly and allow the strands to align. Wrap electrical tape around the spliced area tightly to secure the rope and wires. Wrap the tape in the same direction as the rope strands spiral. Leave an extra two inches of tape at the end of the rope.
- 7). Lace the remaining ends of the wire in the rope. Secure the ends to the rope with the extra two inches of tape.
- 8). Remove the tape binding the wire at the four-inch mark. Work the remaining wire into the remaining rope until you reach the taped end of the rope.
- 9). Tape the wire to the rope to secure the wire to the rope. Remove the tape around the end of the rope and twist the rope strands around the wire. Wrap a piece of electrical tape around the rope and wire for security.
