Ireland is a land chock full of magic, superstitions, legends and cures. Here are seven of the best that you may stumble upon as you drift through the country. Some are terribly simple (once you can find them!) while others are shockingly difficult!
7. Avoca Motto Stone, Avoca, Co. Wicklow
If you can manage to walk around the stone three times without thinking of a goat, you're wish will be granted. Harder than you may imagine!!
6. Blarney Stone, Blarney Castle, Co. Cork
Climb the steps, bend over backwards, plant a smacker on the stone and you will gain the gift of the gab!
5. St. Valentine's Shrine, Dublin
Find true love by making the pilgrimage to Saint Valentine's Shrine in Whitefriar Street Church, Dublin which holds the remains of St. Valentine.
4. Croagh Patrick, Co. Mayo
Climb to the top of Ireland's most sacred mountain to receive penance. If your sins are dastardly, complete the task barefoot, if you have been a real devil then complete it on your knees! Beware! This is far from an easy task!
3. Lough Derg, Co. Donegal
Spend three days on the Lough Derg pilgrimage, fasting, praying, walking the barefoot and staying awake! Once again, a very difficult task.
2. St. Mary's Well, Dundalk, Co. Louth
To help mend a broken heart, go around the well nine times on your knees before drinking a cup of the water.
1. Throughout Ireland.
If you discover a four-leafed shamrock you will always have luck. But the finder must always carry it about their person and never give it away or even show it to another.
