- 1). Open the jaws to their widest point and remove any bit that was installed in the chuck.
- 2). Locate the screw in the back of the chuck by looking through the space created by the opened jaws. Insert an Allen wrench into the screw and turn counter-clockwise to remove the screw.
- 3). Set the drill's direction indicator to reverse. Hold the drill chuck firmly with one hand, and squeeze the drill's trigger with the other to loosen the chuck from the drive shaft. Rotate the chuck counter-clockwise to remove it from the drive shaft.
- 4). Thread a new keyless chuck onto the drive shaft. Rotate the chuck clockwise until it is hand tight.
- 5). Set the drill's direction indicator to forward. Hold the chuck firmly with one hand and squeeze the trigger with the other hand to further tighten the chuck onto the shaft.
- 6). Turn the chuck counter-clockwise to open the jaws to their widest point. Re-insert the screw into the back of the chuck, and tighten with an Allen wrench.
