Shopping Cart Hero 2 is an inventive and great twist on a classic game.
It retains all the parts of a classic "hit for distance" game that gamers love.
Its inventive use of a power bar for the horizontal distance and one for the vertical distance is a clever way to make the game simpler.
The game mechanics themselves are quite good.
Controlling your hero as he soars through the sky makes the game more than just a typical "hit for distance" game as it keeps you involved until you hit the ground, and even some after.
The use of "Style" and a style multiplier make this game feel sort of like an old skateboarding game on a major console.
Where you do tricks and the more different kinds of tricks you do the more your multiplier goes up.
The upgrade system is also quite unique.
You can upgrade your wheels and add rockets to your cart to improve your distance.
You can also add some features to help up your style points.
Add-ons such as groupies and sombreros to increase your multiplier, and tricks to give you more opportunity to increase your style score.
When you acquire $5000 you can purchase a bat.
Now to be honest, I didn't exactly know what the bat was for until I started swinging it around.
When on the ground, you can knock coconuts off the trees and coins out of the grass.
This gets you further money and you can even juggle the coconuts or catch the coins for even more money.
The gamers' original thought is that the trees are just background decoration, but this twist allows the gamer to stay interested.
It adds more challenge to the game as well.
First you have to take off correctly, then you have to perform your tricks while in mid-air and land without crashing, then onto your coconut swinging spree, and then you have ground tricks to perform to improve your score even more.
Most definitely not a dull game.
If I were to make any criticisms, I would say that the game lacks music.
When you first start off the game, it's a little repetitive and sort of bland with no music.
An impatient gamer might stop playing as soon as they started.
Other than that though, there are not many bad things I can say about this game.
It is fun, challenging, it even saves your progress so you can come back to it, because trust me, it while take a while to get that golden shopping cart you want so bad.
