    • 1). Locate your nearest Mississippi Department of Human Services (DHS) Office. Visit the Mississippi Department of Human Services website for a complete listing of all DHS offices by county or region.

From the homepage of the DHS website, click "office directory" in the left-hand navigation bar. Click "County Offices Directory" or "Regional Offices Directory" for a list of every DHS office in the state.

    • 2). Print out a copy of the SNAP application from the Mississippi DHS website. If you do not have a printer, you may also request an application from your local DHS Office by phone, fax, mail or stopping in to pick up the application in person.

From the homepage of the Mississippi DHS website, click on the "Applications" link from the "What do you want to find?" section. On the next page, click on "Application for Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF) and Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) to take you to the application page. On the final page, click on "Application for TANF, SNAP" for a downloaded copy of the application.

    • 3). Fill out the SNAP application with all pertinent household information. If you are unsure of a question or need more guidance, contact the Mississippi Department of Human Services, Division of Economic Assistance toll-free at 1-800-948-305, or locally at 601-359-4810.

    • 4). Mail or fax your application to your local DHS office. You may also take in the application in person. You will be contacted by a DHS official by mail to let you know if you qualify for the program. If you qualify, the DHS office will give you further information on a required personal interview, which is the last step of the application process.

    • 5). Attend a personal interview at your local DHS Office. At the interview, make sure to bring in proof of identification, Social Security numbers of every person in your household, your banking statements, proof of employment or unemployment benefits, and your rent or lease agreement.
