This week's super match will take place on Sunday as Arsenal visit Stamford Bridge to take on champions Chelsea in the eighth round of games, in the ongoing Premier League.
Last week, both teams had similar stories to tell.
They lost for the first time, this Premiership season, and won their respective Champions League games.
Chelsea beat Marseille, at home at Stamford Bridge, while Arsenal prevailed over FK Partizan, away, in Belgrade, Slovakia.
Their game against Manchester City last week was their first real challenge of the season for Carlo Ancelotti's squad, and they flunked the test, losing 1-0.
The match won in mid-week against Marseille saw Nicolas Anelka contribute to the score, and Chelsea must take that as a positive.
Along with Didier Drogba, Anelka forms the most dreaded pair of strikers in the Premier League.
In fact, Anelka's goal in the Marseille match was his eighth of the season.
With Lampard out through injury, Chelsea now more than at any other time need this pair to continue the good work.
Midfielders Malouda and Yossi Benayoun are also key figures in the Stamford Bridge line-up.
Especially, now that they are up against a determined Arsenal looking to steal points away from the leaders.
Chelsea will seek to blunt the Arsenal attack, and in this task they will have to rely on Alex, Terry and Ivanovic in the back-line as much as on midfielders, Ramires, Mikel and Essien.
The Gunners lost 3-2 to West Brom Albion in a match that saw their defence and their goal keeper in particular let them down.
More surprisingly, it was their passing that let them down even more.
Arsene Wenger's squad have earned a reputation in recent years for their slick passing, but against Albion, they were not able to keep the ball, especially in the first 45 minutes.
Their Champions League win was a much needed relief for the Gunners, ahead of the big match at Stamford Bridge.
Arsenal will be desperate to bank points in the Chelsea game.
Apart from being a grudge match against arch rivals, they also need to close the gap on Chelsea, and not allow them to run away with a points lead, early in the season.
Most of all, the Gunners will be looking to up their performances in away games.
Thus far they have five points from three away games, and with their next away match, after the Chelsea game, scheduled against Manchester City, Wengers' men know there's no free lunch, when they are on the road.
At Stamford Bridge, possession will be key, and Arsenal will have to do much better than they did against Albion, to stay in the match.
Also, they need to play deeper in defence, especially with new signings in the starting eleven, and a mediocre 'keeper, in Almunia.
If the defenders go up in the hope of setting an off-side trap, as has been their wont, as far as Arsenal's backs go, it would be a big mistake against Chelsea's rampaging forwards.
If there's one thing you can bet on, Chelsea will be hard to beat on the day.
