Causes and Treatments of Hair Loss

Are you also losing your hair day by day? Are you ashamed of going in public due to hair loss? Do you think you do not look attractive anymore? Yes, it is absolutely true that hair is important to every person. It is not only essential for one's appearance, but also provides with a self-image. Hair loss is the problem which is faced by almost 50% of men. Though hair loss does not create any health issues, however, it can lower one's self-esteem. The advanced technology provides us with the solutions for hair loss. It is a wise option to consider hair loss treatment as soon as your hair starts losing. Before knowing about hair loss treatments, first let us learn about the causes of hair loss.

Hair loss is due to many reasons. If you start losing your hair suddenly, then it is because of any trauma. The trauma can be emotional as well as physical. A condition called telogen effluvium is caused due to the shock, which stops the hair from growing and results in falling off the hair. Secondly, if the hair loss is steady, then it is due to deficiency of some nutrients. Less quantity of zinc, iron, biotin etc. would lead to hair loss. So, broccoli, eggs, spinach should be taken in good quantity as they are necessary for the growth of the hair. Thirdly, androgenetic alopecia is another cause of hair loss, which is very common in men. The male organ DHT acts on hair follicles, and thereby causes hair loss. There are three factors affecting androgenetic hair loss: hormones, genes and age.

By now, you are familiar with the different causes of hair loss. The causes like trauma or deficiency of particular nutrients can be solved easily, or say, by taking some efforts. However, genetic cause is difficult to work out and cannot be elucidated by the person himself.

The Food and Drug Administration have approved two drugs for hair loss treatment in men - finasteride and minoxidil. Finasteride, also known as Propecia, is an inhibitor which blocks 5-alpha reductbase, and prevents the conversion of enzymes from testosterone to DHT (dihydrotestosterone). The effect of the said drug can be seen after three months of taking it. However, the hair loss will start again a year after the drug has not been taken. The other troublesome thing is that the drug can lead to side effects; the most common of which are ejaculation disorders, impotency, hypersensitive reactions and enlargement of breasts.

The other drug proved to be effective in hair loss treatment is Minoxidil, also called Rogaine. However, the chance of recurring hair through the said drug is only 25%. It should be applied twice a day in foam, cream, or liquid. Unlike finasteride, minoxidil is effective till the time it is being used. If the person is a heart patient, then this drug should be avoided.

Therefore, there is no need to fret. The problem of hair loss can be solved eventually. The only thing required is to know all the particulars of the treatment before applying for it.
