- 1). Have a friend hold the tab on a tape measure on the side at the front of the motor home.
- 2). Extend the tape measure to the end and record the measurement from bumper to bumper, excluding ladders or spare tires. Record the measurement.
- 3). Measure the length of the entire motor home, including ladders and spare tires. Record the measurement.
- 4). Purchase a cover of the appropriate size. Ask the dealer if the measurement should include or exclude the ladder and spare tire. Some brands accommodate for ladders and spare tires, and others do not. If the length of the motor home is between sizes, purchase the larger size to ensure proper fit.
- 1). Have a friend hold the tab of the tape measure on the edge of the rear bumper of the travel trailer.
- 2). Extend the tape measure to the front of the travel trailer. Do not measure the tongue. Record the measurement.
- 3). Have the friend move to include the ladder and/or spare tire in the measurement. Extend the tape measure to the end of the tongue and record the measurement.
- 4). Take both measurements to the dealer and ask which measurement is needed. Some covers are designed to include ladders, spare tires and tongue length. If the length of the travel trailer falls between sizes, purchase the larger size.
- 1). Have a friend hold the tab of a tape measure on the edge of rear bumper.
- 2). Extend the tape measure down the side of the fifth wheel to the edge of the front overhang. Do not include the king pin box. Record the measurement.
- 3). Have the friend move the tape measure to include ladders or spare tires. Extend the tape measure to include the king pin box. Record the measurement.
- 4). Ask the dealer which measurement is needed to ensure proper fit. Some covers are designed to include ladders and spare tires. Others must be measured to accommodate ladders and spare tires. If the length of the fifth wheel is between cover sizes, purchase the larger size to ensure proper fit.
