How to Adjust a Windows 7 TouchPad

    • 1). Click on the Start button.

    • 2). Click "Control Panel."

    • 3). Click "Mouse."

    • 4). Click on the tab marked "Buttons."

    • 5). Click on the arrow next to the heading marked "Devices."

    • 6). Click on the name of your touchpad in the dropdown list.

    • 7). Click on the "Right-handed" or "Left-handed" options to configure your touchpad buttons.

    • 8). Slide the bar under "Double Click Speed" to the left or right to adjust the double clicking speeds on your touchpad.

    • 9). Click on the "Device Settings" tab. Click "Disable" if you wish to disable your touchpad. Click "Settings" to access more device settings.

      Click on each option heading on the left-hand side of the screen that you wish to adjust. Most touchpads allow users to change the sensitivity, pointer behavior and scrolling options to their specifications. Change each setting accordingly.

      Click "Apply" when finished. Click "OK" to save the touchpad settings and exit the window.
