September 2014 Calendar of Events

September marks the beginning of the fall season and festivals are underway. Check out the list of the September Fall Festivals for more details. 'Oklahoma!'


One of the most popular musicals of all time, Oklahoma! comes to Beef and Boards this September. Farmers and cowboys collide in Indian Territory at the turn of the century. Life and love is a struggle! The musical is the first collaboration of Rodgers & Hammerstein. Tickets range in price from $38.50 to $63.50. The ticket price includes the show and a dinner buffet.

'The Black Knight Archive'


The newest exhibit at the Indianapolis Museum of Contemporary Art, Ian Weaver's 'Black Knights' depicts a fictional version of history of one Black community on the near west side of Chicago. Admission and parking are free.

Colts Kickoff Concert


It's the 2nd Annual Indianapolis Colts Kickoff Concert on Georgia Street! The free concert will feature Grammy Award winning artist Blues Traveler. The band rose to fame with hits such as “Hook”, “Run-Around”, and “Carolina Blues” The concert will be held on the west end of Georgia Street in conjunction with Indianapolis Downtown Inc. This concert is free and open to the public.

80's Night at Garfield Park Conservatory


It's time to put on your ripped jeans and spike your bangs! The 80's are back at Garfield Park Conservatory. Enjoy music, treats, trivia and more. Plus, view the newly-renovated historic Sunken Garden fountains. Admission is $3.

United Way: The Big Kickoff


The United Way of Central Indiana and The Indianapolis Colts invite fans to a combined kickoff party on Monument Circle. The party kicks off both the football and philanthropic seasons. The free event will feature live music, opportunities to find out about volunteering at United Way and its agencies, free Limited Edition Colts Kickoff posters, autographs from Colts alumni, a visit from Colts Cheerleaders and Blue, and Colts interactive inflatables.

The United Way will announce its 2014 fundraising goal, celebrate results of early giving at area companies and recognize companies that recruit the most ReadUP volunteers. Over the lunch hour, fans can meet Colts Cheerleaders, see the Vince Lombardi Trophy and buy $5 box lunches from Applebee's, with proceeds benefiting United Way's campaign.

4 Wheel Jamboree Nationals


The Indiana State Fairgrounds will crawl with more than 4,500 4-wheel drive and sport utility vehicles for a weekend of 4X4 fun for the entire family. The event will feature a parts pavilion, Monster Truck Thunder drags, family fun zone, Little Might Monsters and more. Meet TV Personality Ian Johnson from Xtreme Off Road and see famous monster trucks such as Avenger, Bigfoot, Raminator, The General, War Wizard, and others! Tickets are $17 for adults; $10 for children 3 -12 and children 2 and under are free.

'The Moon Among the Stars'


Charlie Chin tells a beautifully wound story in the traditional story-telling style. His story includes proverbs and traditional Chinese tales.Tickets $20 in advance, $25 at the door, students $15 with high school or college ID.
