- 1). Point your mouse cursor to an open area of the taskbar and right-click the space. This will open a drop-down menu.
- 2). Select "Properties" in the drop down. This opens the "Taskbar" tab of the "Taskbar and the Start Menu Properties" window.
- 3). Click the check box next to "Use small icons" to remove the tick in the box.
- 4). Select "Combine when taskbar is full" from the "Taskbar buttons" drop-down box.
- 5). Click the "Apply" button at the bottom of the window, then the "OK" button to apply your changes.
- 6). Right-click any pinned icons in the taskbar and select "Un-pin this program from the taskbar" in the drop-down menu that appears. Pinned icons are program shortcuts added to the taskbar. Windows Vista does not have this feature.
