- 1). Open a Word document on your computer and begin by choosing a professional font size, style and color for your resume.
- 2). Start your resume by listing your name and contact information. This should include your address, phone number and e-mail at the top of the page.
- 3). Create a heading below your contact information reading "Objective." Below, state what it is you wish to achieve by applying for the nanny position.
- 4). Create a heading below your objective reading "Qualifications." Here, state any true abilities, experience, or demonstrative qualities you possess that would appeal to potential employers. Suitable additions to this section include: first-aid certification and how many years of experience you have in the child-care field. Give attention to details and provide examples where applicable.
- 5). Create a third heading reading "Education." Here you will list, starting with the most recent, the schools and/or programs you have attended. Specify the completion of any programs and/or the highest level of education you have received. Include the year you attended or completed the program.
- 6). Create a heading reading "Work Experience." Below, outline any experience you have within or outside of the child-care field. Along with a description of your responsibilities at that particular job, state your job title, the name of your employer and the months and years you worked there.
- 7). At the bottom of your resume, create a final heading reading "References." Upon your own discretion, you may choose to include the statement "available upon request," wherein potential employers, if interested, will approach you at a later date for any references you may have. Otherwise, include any references you may have whom you are sure will adequately (and truthfully) vouch for your experiences and abilities in caring for children. References may include previous employers or personal relations, but may not include family members.
