Paypal is one of the most popular secure online payment methods. To add a button to your website you will need to open a Paypal account. Go to paypal.com and sign up now, it's free! Adding a button is an easy process and it will make your website look much more professional.
Adding a Paypal button
€ Sign In to Paypal.
€ Click on Merchant Services.
€ Click on the Buy Now button.
€ This will bring you to the Create Buy Now Button page.
€ In the Item Name box key in the name of your product.
€ In the Price box key in the price that you are selling the product for.
€ Now scroll down and choose which button style you prefer.
€ At Button Encryption select Yes.
€ Now scroll down to the end of the page and Click on Add More Options.
€ This brings you to Page 2.
€ At Successful Payment URL type in the url for your download page.
€ Note €" your download page is the page where you want to send your purchaser once they have paid for the product.
€ Now scroll down to the end of the page and Click on Create Button Now.
€ You are now looking at the html code to be inserted into your website.
€ Please don't let the look of this scare you off €" all we are going to do is copy and paste it into your website €" Easy!
€ Let's continue - Click on Select All, right click on it and Select Copy.
€ Now go to your html editor (I use Kompozer, it's fee!) and bring up your webpage.
€ Decide where you would like to add the paypal button.
€ Type in Click Here To Purchase (or similar).
€ Now directly underneath this type in a line of x's e.g. xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
€ This is a very handy tip for marking the spot! You'll see why in a moment.
€ Now Click on the Source tab €" bottom left of your screen if in Kompozer.
€ This shows you all the html code for your webpage.
€ If this is your first time seeing this please don't let it overwhelm you - you don't need to understand any of it!
€ Now locate the row of x's €" remember the words Click Here To Purchase will be on the line above.
€ Highlight the x's and paste in the paypal html code you copied earlier.
€ Important €" when highlighting the x's ensure you don't delete anything else, just the x's.
€ Now Save your work.
€ Go back to your webpage €" i.e. normal view €" and Click on Browse (top row) to view your changes.
€ And there's your new Paypal button!
€ You should always test your work €" so Click on it now to test.
€ Click OK to the Security Warning.
€ This will take you to the paypal Purchase Page where you will see details of your product.
And Voila! You now have a Paypal Buy Now button on your webpage. Well Done!
