Ask the Experts - Breastfeeding and the Rabies Vaccine
A breastfeeding mother has been bitten by a dog with unknown rabies status and has started the rabies vaccine. Is it safe to continue breastfeeding?

All rabies vaccines consist of inactivated virus so they pose no risk of transmission. It is not known whether inactivated rabies virus or the corresponding antibodies cross into the breast milk. However, difficulties with breastfeeding would not be anticipated and are extremely unlikely.
