- 1). Open a desktop publishing program or download a free software trial. Click the "Publications for Print" or "Templates" section and select "Brochures." Scroll through the available brochure templates and double-click one to open it in the program’s workspace.
- 2). Highlight a headline on the brochure with your cursor and type directly atop the highlighted area with text that describes your project, such as "New Colonial on the Market" or "Stucco Ceilings, 25 percent off." Use the text toolbar at the top of the page to change the font, size, color and position of the text you've created. Repeat to change all of the headlines on the brochure.
- 3). Click inside a text box under one of the headlines. Type the brochure information for that section, such as a description of the layout of the home, a history of its prior residents or renovations in progress. Move to the next text box and add more information, continuing throughout the brochure.
- 4). Right-click a placeholder image on the brochure and select “Change Picture.” Choose “From File” and browse to a digital image of the house, blueprints or interior on your computer. Double-click the file, which appears in place on the brochure. Repeat to change all of the placeholder images throughout.
- 5). Add more images to the brochure by pulling down the "Insert" menu, clicking "Picture" and selecting "Clip Art." Type a word or phrase into the "Search for" box, such as “house,” “yard,” “condo,” “bedroom” or “kitchen.” Scroll through the results and double-click an image, then drag it into place on the brochure.
- 6). Highlight the placeholder contact information boxes on the brochure and replace them with your own details, such as the name of the builder company, hours of operation, phone number, website and email address. Add any other details you desire, such as open house time slots or a model walk-through address.
- 7). Turn on your printer and load the paper. Pull down the “File” menu and click “Print.” Select your printer from the options; it may already be the default. Click the “Pages” button under “Print range” and type a “1” in each box so it says “Pages from 1 to 1.” Nudge the “Number of copies” box up to the number of copies of the brochure you wish to print and click the “OK” button.
- 8). Let the pages dry, turn them face up and place them back in the print tray. Repeat the print process, but type “2” in each of the page boxes to print the backside of the brochure.
- 9). Let the pages dry, turn them so page one faces down, fold the right third of the page in towards the middle, then fold the left third of the page in towards the middle to form a tri-folded brochure for each copy.
