How to Make Your Own Candle Scents Blend

Homemade scented candles are probably one of the easiest to make in the realm of DIY candle making.
How is making scented candles easy? You just melt the wax using your melting can (submerged in water and placed in a larger pan) and add the fragrance to the wax when the wax has already melted.
The possibilities are endless when it comes to candle making scents varieties.
There are literally hundreds of different kinds of scents available in the market.
For an idea, you could try essential oils like citronella for your self-made scented candles.
Not only will the room smell fresh, but the candle will also act as a natural insect repellent.
Essential oils from plants such as the ylang-ylang are also great for creating an energizing and vibrant mood at home.
Feel the power of natural aromatherapy with your very own homemade scented candles.
Blending different scents If you feel like being adventurous with choosing the essential oil or fragrance for making your candles, you can easily make your own scent blend at home without the help of an expert.
To make your scent blend, you would need at least 2 types of fragrance, a sealable glass jar and cotton swabs.
The first step is to evaluate whether the scents you have chosen are compatible with each other.
You can do this easily by opening the bottles and sniffing all of them at once.
From this test alone you can usually already tell which scent forms the top note of the fragrance and which scent is near the bottom.
Now, take a swab of each of the fragrances and squeeze out the excess oil from the cotton swabs.
Place the moistened swabs inside the glass container and seal the container.
Wait one hour and smell the surface of the jar.
The scents will already be mixing at this point.
Does it smell pleasant? If it does, you are free to continue with the next step: curing.
The fragrance has to 'cure' for at least 2 days inside the sealed glass jar.
After 2 days, you can take another sniff again.
This time, whatever fragrance has manifested will be the final fragrance that will result if you mix the different oils physically.
What if you don't like the smell of the combination? Well, be creative! Buy other scents and combine them to see which combination would be the best for your candle making needs.
