If you are looking for a wrinkle cure you've most likely seen those ads brandished across the Net and throughout magazines.
Those with a before and after picture of a lady in her mid 40's with the caption underneath: "86% wrinkle elimination in 2 minutes!".
Well, if you're a little skeptical, so are some dermatologists who suggest that if such a wrinkle cure is possible, where are the medical studies to purport such claims.
In their defense however, skin experts from companies such as Olay and Clinique argue that the medical proof does exist, as their research is derived from medical studies into collagen production creams which were first used to treat wounds.
Known as pentapeptides, these are small groups of long-chained amino acids which act as chemical instructors throughout your system which are instrumental in increasing cells in the skin to produce more collagen.
Collagen therefore is the key here as the tightness and firmness of your skin is dictated by collagen levels.
If you skin is firm it will appear younger and therefore collagen levels are high.
Alternatively, when levels are reduced, this is when sagging and wrinkles begin to occur.
However, it wasn't until Olay took anti-wrinkle treatment one step further when they applied a particular fatty acid to a peptide concentration to create what is now known as palmitoyl pentapeptide compound-3, that skin care experts argue wrinkle cures available in a serum really took off.
Since Olay patented this compound, other brands have been swift in jumping on the band wagon, including the new Amino Genesis by Clinique and DERMacai and LiftSP.
These cosmetic companies now argue that this new compound will deliver greater anti aging qualities as these serums are able to delve deeper into the layers of your facial tissue whereby offering more of your skin the ability to naturally produce collagen.
So if a wrinkle-filling injection is not your cup of tea, or is simply too pricey, skin care experts suggest these serums or creams can still offer a wrinkle cure that can match these medicinal procedures - just without the needle!
