- 1). Install a PDF writing program on to your computer. Many PDF writing applications are available, both free and for a fee. PDFill, which is available for download at no cost, is used in the following steps. When you choose a PDF writing program, make certain that it has a feature that allows you to adjust the margins of a PDF file.
- 2). Launch the PDF writing program. Click once on the "Free PDF Tools" button on the "Standard Toolbar." It has an icon that appears to be a hammer and wrench. This will launch a separate "Select a PDF File" window. From this window, locate the folder where the PDF file is saved using the Look In menu. Highlight the PDF file name and click once on the "Open" button.
- 3). Use the "Page margin from edges" fields on the "Reformat PDF" window to increase the left margin. You may adjust all four margins within the document by typing the new measurement in inches into the appropriate field. Click once on the "Save As" button after you have finished adjusting the margins.
- 4). Type a new file name into the "File Name" field. It is a good idea to use a new file name until you determine that the margins adjustments suit your needs. If you want to overwrite the original file, use the name of the source file. Click once on the "Save" button to complete the changes.
