Health & Medical Self-Improvement

It All Starts Here!

In the beginning Have you ever heard anyone say; "you cannot change your core values?" For many years I believed that was the case.
It's a classic example of believing what we are told when we were young.
I have no idea who told me, if I read it or maybe heard it on TV or on the radio, all I know is that I remember it and I believed it to be true.
I no longer believe it to be true because I have a choice about what I really want to believe, and so do you.
When we are born we have no concept of values at all.
Values are the things that are most important to you in your life.
Some of the more common values that people hold are around Health, Family, Friends, Home, Career and Finance, and of course depending on your life experience so far, these can be far more than the few I have quoted here and they can also be very diverse and unique to you as an individual.
It is therefore your experience and learnings so far that provide you with the information that you have decided to hold true as your values.
We all live with these values mostly unconsciously and carry on with our normal activities blind to the power a greater understanding of these "important things" will bring to us.
When you become aware of the things that are important to you, you also become aware of where you're currently spending most of your time.
Often there are conflicts in the way you're behaving when compared to your values.
For example; If you truly believe that health and fitness is really important to you, yet you choose to not take any exercise at all, there is an obvious conflict.
By bringing these unconscious behaviours into your conscious mind, you will have a far greater opportunity to develop and create a strategy that will lead you to new ways of making the changes required.
The example above is quite a common value that becomes an issue for many people, but just imagine if you were to focus on all of your values in this way and then re align them, and then create actions that not only sustain your new behaviours but allow you to develop and grow while on route to your highest goals.
Is it really possible.
Of course it is, no great new ideas here, it just takes practice! Until you know what you want to change, you can't start practising.
And when you do understand your true values you will also understand the real motivators in your life and that will produce results.
