- 1). Visit London during the winter. London vacation packages are at their lowest rates during the winter months. However, if you hate cold weather, visit during the spring or fall -- when prices aren't at their lowest, but they aren't at their highest either.
- 2). Practice the art of flexibility. Research costs using several methods: If you're staying a week in London -- check the airfare from Wednesday to Wednesday -- rather than Saturday to Saturday. Traveling mid-week is often less expensive than traveling on weekends. Change your departure date by 24 hours, to see if your tickets are less expensive. Check into alternative airports. If you're departing for Salzburg from New York City, check the flight prices from LaGuardia, Newark and JFK.
- 3). Compare prices. Research prices using every method possible. Call your airline and speak to a representative. Visit the ticket counter at the airport. Search travel websites, which will show you the price of your flight on every airline departing from your airport. Check your airline's website to see if booking through them is less expensive than booking through a travel agent, or travel website.
