Running on "E" (Empty)

Overwhelmed, overworked and underpaid. That's how I would describe my life in a nutshell these days. I'm sitting here typing with one arm and nursing a baby on my left, one child is calling me on my cell phone to ask if she can stay at a friend's house later, another just got whacked in the head with a bat by his younger brother and my 6 year old daughter is having a nervous breakdown because I won't take her to meet "Hannah Montana" in California, TODAY. This is my life. Every day, all day.

Just like our cars, our bodies need fuel to function and these days I feel like I'm running on empty all the time! Our newest addition is approaching 8 weeks old. The time has flown by as it always does and I am functioning on little or no sleep as I always do following a new baby. Although I'm normally pretty good at multitasking with a new baby this time I'm working, or at least trying to work in between feedings, diaper changes, carpooling, cooking, entertaining, mediating, and supervising several temper tantrums a day.

How do Moms balance it all without sacrificing the few brain cells that didn't melt away during pregnancy? The answer is time management and balance. As simple as these concepts sound for busy Moms they can be incredibly difficult to manage! It's important to realize there are many different ways to manage your time and balance your life. The idea is to find the schedule that best fits your life at the moment. As a Mom, what works now may not work 6 months from now. Remember to reevaluate and readjust as needed to keep your tank running with gas!
