Why the Secret about the Law of Attraction Was Kept a Secret

The book The Secret, talks about the law of attraction.
Apparently this law was known by all the great minds and great achievers in history.
The book claims to reveal that which was taught in the Mystery schools and secret societies.
However this best seller fails to appreciate why the law of attraction was taught in secret and what the implications are for those who misuse it.
Let's be clear, the law of attraction is only one of several cosmic laws.
The book The Secret seems to imply that it is the only one.
The law of attraction, the power to visualise were skills taught in the mystery schools but only to those initiates who had proved their purity of motive and desire to be of service to humanity.
The sages knew that were they to reveal all the cosmic laws to people, most would use them for the wrong reasons.
For personal gain and profit.
Much is planned before our soul incarnates.
There are certain experiences that we as a soul choose to experience during our sojourn on earth, because these experiences will help us to grow in moral stature.
The main areas we choose to develop are agreed by our soul with the Lords of karma, known as the 24 Elders in the kabbalah.
The Secret, overwhelmingly appeals to personality needs rather than soul needs.
The book boasts that the law of attraction can be used to get that expensive car or that house or that job etc.
Material things.
There is a tiny but immensely important part of the formula it is missing out.
Why do you want that car, that job, that partner? Is it to massage your ego or is it to be of service to the light? It may be that an individual has prearranged on a soul level, before incarnating, to live a frugal life.
Then when the person incarnates, forgets this agreement, and visualises and visualises and keeps affirming a different kind of life.
An opulent lifestyle.
It may be that this barrage of fiery desire, enlists the aid of certain entities in the invisible world who help him to manifest this life.
He will then have missed an opportunity to grow on a soul level.
However, the likelihood of maintaining this opulent life is limited as it has been forced and was not meant to be in his curriculum.
Also, in getting his desire, he was helped by less luminous entities, who feed off his energy and he then becomes indebted to them.
In the long run he will realise that although he has the lifestyle he wants, he isn't happy because deep down he knows that he is not really learning the lessons he came to learn.
Similarly, it is well documented that a large percentage of lottery winners lose their money and are paupers after a few years.
Why? Because their consciousness did not match their desires.
The overwhelming success of The Secret shows that there is a hungry audience for this kind of information.
Wouldn't it be amazing if the millions who have read it, would agree to change the direction of their desire.
Still a desire but a less personal one.
Would it not be inspiring if all The Secret readers agreed to work to establish peace and goodwill on earth? To use the powers of thought and visualisation to change the planet? The paradox of spiritual life is that the less personal our wishes, the more likely we will benefit on a personal level! That's why the initiate Jesus, asked us to seek the Kingdom of Harmony/Heaven because as he said, all things would be added ie everything for our advancement and growth, joy and peace.
Incidentally, although Jesus knew he was going to be crucified, he could easily have used his mind to get out of his predicament.
After all he had done all manner of miracles, and he knew the power of thought.
But he DID NOT save himself, even thought he could have.
There is a message there for all of us.
An indication that powers of thought should be used for the benefit of the planet, not just for personal gain.
