Why The Caribbean Should Be Spelled With Three B's

"Caribbean" is one of the harder words to remember how to spell in the English language. And while the word contains only two "B"s there should be a case made that there are in fact three "B"s in "The Caribbean".

BAHAMAS

The Islands of The Bahamas are comprised of a chain of over 700 islands and cays. While many of these islands are uninhabited, there are two destinations in The Bahamas that have visitors returning year after year for the amazing diving, shopping, dining, fishing and beaches.

Freeport, located on Grand Bahama, is what an authentic island experience is all about. Outlined by endless White Sandy Beaches and surrounded by crystal clear blue waters, this island is a haven for sport and outdoor enthusiasts into Diving, Snorkeling, Deep-sea Fishing, Golf and other Eco-Tourism activities. Lucayan National Park is a great place to get back to nature by kayaking through mangroves, exploring underwater caves and hiking through the distinct regions of the area each with their own unique flora and fauna. Discover a pristine deserted beach and laze the day away in solitude or shop in the high end duty-free shops before hitting the ever partying nightlife.

Nassau/Paradise Island is the most popular Bahamian destination of all the Islands. Although busier and more cosmopolitan than Freeport, Nassau also offers spectacular diving, fishing, dining, and beaches. Huge Mega Resorts such as The Atlantis line Paradise Island and Cable Beach and offer excursions and tours of the island and the surrounding waters catering to all interests. As a haven for Pirates centuries ago, Nassau also has many historical sites including forts, shipwrecks, and museums that will take you back to the days when pirates such as the notorious Blackbeard ruled Nassau. Do some plundering of your own along Bay Street for some amazing duty-free shopping or take a chance with your coins in the numerous casinos on the island.

Overall, a visit to the Islands of the Bahamas is a must for Divers, Snorkelers, Deep-sea fishing and shopping. With a very laid back atmosphere, yet so much to offer, it is the perfect way to get that true island experience.

BERMUDA

Although not technically located in The Caribbean, as a destination it stands up to even the best of the premier Caribbean islands. This British overseas territory is extremely popular with golfers as it boasts more golf courses per square kilometer than anywhere else in the world. World-class courses set among the natural beauty and scenery of the island draw visitors from around the world, many returning year after year. At only 21 square kilometers, the island is small and compact enough to explore on your own; hiking, or renting bikes and mopeds are the best way of seeing the island. In fact cars are only allowed to be operated by residents and were banned entirely until the Second World War. The cities of Hamilton and St. George have charming colonial era architecture, museums and numerous forts and fortifications from the days of Royal Navy rule. Beaches on Bermuda are very unique with pink sand due to a combination of local coral and shells and offer a wide range of watersports including excellent diving sites near shipwrecks. Although there aren't a lot of Hotels in Bermuda, accommodation is in most part of a higher end caliber.

Even though Bermuda is tinier and quieter than many Caribbean Destinations, it has enough charm and color to consider for your next vacation. Perfect for Golfers or for a very casual get away, Bermuda will continue to be a favourite destination for many years to come.

BARBADOS

With a reputation as a more prestige destination, a vacation to Barbados is definitely a higher-end trip, what it isn't however is a "stuffy" high-end trip. Barbados overall is an island that has an exterior that appears prim and proper but deep down inside loves to let loose and party (Imagine if Prince Harry was an island). Barbados has over 70 miles of palm lined beaches popular for surfing, snorkeling and wind surfing including Crane Beach which is consistently ranked among one of the Best Beaches in the World. On land, Barbados has numerous excursions and historical sites to keep even the most adventurous of traveler occupied. From discovering Historical Bridgetown to zip-lining, submarine tours and jeep safaris, Barbados covers all styles of tours and excursions for eco-tourists and nature lovers alike. No matter how you spend your days, don't let the laid back style fool you, at night Barbados comes alive with music and dance and the Bajans love to show you how to have a good time, Especially if one of their famous festivals are going on. One of the long time favourite attractions in Barbados is the Jolly Roger party cruise. Party like a pirate all day on a cruise complete with unlimited drinks and a BBQ dinner.

Barbados is a destination of natural beauty with endless ways to discover the rich culture and history of this luxurious yet elegant island. Barbados is one of the only islands in The Caribbean where you can act like a spoiled VIP one day and party like a rock star the next.
