- 1). Turn off the water in the house before you attempt to remove the faucet's handle. Close the main water valve, then turn on another faucet all the way to make sure no water pressure is left in the pipes.
- 2). Use your fingernails to pry out the small plastic cap piece in the middle of the handle, if your Delta shower faucet handle is a plastic ball. Remove the single screw under the cap and set the screw aside.
- 3). Use a small Allen wrench to remove the screw in the base of the handle, if your shower's faucet handle is made of metal. Place a washcloth over the shower's drain in case you accidentally drop the screw.
- 4). Slide the handle off the faucet assembly. If the handle is stuck, heat it up for five minutes using a hair dryer. If the handle is still stuck, clamp the fingers of a handle puller tool around the back edge of the handle, then twist the center post clockwise to pull the handle off the faucet.
