- 1). Wait until a good rainfall penetrates the road or driveway surface. The rainfall will help the calcium chloride penetrate.
- 2). Apply the calcium chloride. Follow manufacturer's directions for the rate of application, or estimate 0.5 lbs. per square yard for flake form or 0.41lbs. per square yard for pellet form.
- 3). Soak the surface using a high-pressure hose nozzle if your area is having a dry spell.
