- 1). Have a friend lie on a surface at a height that allows you to reach him comfortably from a standing position as if to massage him. The surface should be lower than the waist of the individual giving the massage.
- 2). Measure the height of the surface, and purchase folding table legs of this length from a home improvement store. The table will not support legs 36 inches or longer, because they will hit each other when folded. If the legs are 30 inches or shorter, room will be available to attach additional single leg supports in the center of the table if desired. The legs purchased should be approximately as wide as the table. Consult the resource image (at www.northerntool.com/images/product/images/1713_lg.jpg) for an example of suitable folding table legs.
- 3). Install the folding legs on the underside of the table, with a pair of folding legs at each end of the table, using the screws provided with the legs. Each pair of legs will feature four anchor points, two near the end of the table, two near the middle, that must be screwed in place.
- 4). Fold the legs in to store the table.
- 5). Unfold the legs and ensure that the locking mechanism is in place when using the table.
- 6). Lay a foam pad approximately two inches thick on the table when in use, and drape sheets over it for comfort.
- 7). Use pillows to support the individual being massaged. A pillow under the chest and ankles, in addition to a pillow for the individual's head, is an appropriate face-down set-up, while a pillow under the head and knees works for an individual on his back.
- 8). Use rolled towels or sheets to add support anywhere the individual is not contacting the bedding.
