Guide Review - Artin's Grill

Artin's Grill is a fine dining restaurant with a sophisticated casual vibe. I took my husband to Artin's Grill to celebrate his birthday and it was the first visit for both of us.

The staff was friendly and knowledgeable and a constant fuss was made to ensure that our window seating was just right.

The shades were lowered to prevent the sunset for being too bright and then immediately raised when it was appropriate so that we could enjoy the view of the illuminated fountains outside.

To start things off, I ordered the Gray Goose Pear Martini. The sign of a good martini is if it arrives with a perfect glaze of ice cross the top, and my Pear Martini did not disappoint. A full bar is available as well as an extensive wine list.

Appetizer
We ordered a half order of the Short Rib Nachos for an appetizer and it was just perfect ($6). The fresh tortillas were assembled with shredded beef short ribs, cheese, and fresh jalapeño peppers. (We both despise pickled jalapeños). The nachos were worth the drive over -- offering just enough beef to tempt you into changing your order to the Beef Short Ribs -- and leaving you wanting more. We found ourselves saying that the next time we crave nachos, we'll skip the Tex-Mex spots across the Shops on Legacy and head over to Artin's.

Entree
I ordered the Superlump Crab Cake Duo ($29). Two large crab cakes consisting mostly of crab (very little breadcrumbs or filler) with Pommery Moutard de Meaux mustard sauce, and grilled asparagus. It was meaty, flavorful and I hated to leave any behind on my plate.

My husband ordered the Sesame Seared Ahi Tuna with Wasabi Mashed Potatoes and Asian Slaw. To quote my husband, "Best slaw ever!" It was not your typical mayonnaise-based cole slaw. It was served in a deep-fried wonton and there aren't words to describe how incredible we found the side dish. We also sampled the housemade mac 'n cheese and we polished it off. It was divine. The food arrived very quickly, perfectly cooked and served at appropriate temperatures.

Dessert
For dessert, we chose to share the Coconut Sesame Bread Pudding (*$7). It was served with a Malibu Rum Sauce, Berries and Sesame Brittle. The Sesame Brittle was a knock-it-out-of-the-park home run. It was an unassuming side piece of the dessert and it could have easily been the focal point. Served with vanilla ice cream, it was an incredible dessert. I give it the TDF rating (To Die For)!

Wine List
A nice wine selection ranges from $29-$195 a bottle. Coffee/tea/soda is $2.50.

My Next Visit
Next time I would probably try something different on the menu because everything sounded delicious. I might try the Beef Short Rib Enchiladas with the Key Lime Pie with Chocolate Dipped Candied Orange Peels. Mmm. Or maybe I'll just ask for a plate of Sesame Brittle!
