The Tables in Wonderland card is not the dopey deck of cards that the queen of hearts prefer. In fact, there's nothing silly about these cards. This card, in fact, used to be called the "Disney Dining Experience," which, honestly doesn't reveal much more about the advantages and disadvantages than its new name.
This card is only available to Disney Annual Passholders and Florida residents. It costs 75 dollars to purchase this card if you are a Passholder, and 100 dollars if you are a Florida resident, but fear not. The card will pay for itself surprisingly quickly. In what way? With the Tables in Wonderland card, you automatically get 20% on all food and beverages at Walt Disney World Resort.
There are very few restrictions to this discount - it will discount appetizers and alcohol, and it is accepted at every Walt Disney World Restaurant. It can only be applied at a table of 10 guests or fewer. Because of the possibility that there are so many being covered by the card, an 18% gratuity is automatically added onto your bill when you use your Tables in Wonderland card - you should be tipping 18% or more, anyway, so this shouldn't "interfere" with your savings too much.
Tables in Wonderland vs. Disney Dining Plan
So which is better, the Tables in Wonderland card, or the Disney Dining Plan included in your Magic Your Way Vacation Package? Well, for one thing, this might not apply to you, if you're not a resident of Florida or an Annual Passholder. If you are a foodie, the Tables in Wonderland Program may be enough to inspire you to become a Disney Annual Passholder.
The Disney Dining Plan is good for 1 Snack, 1 Counter Service Meal, and 1 Table Service meal per day, and does not cover alcohol or appetizers. If that suits the way you eat, and you have never felt that you were missing out at Walt Disney World by eating that way, then perhaps the Tables in Wonderland Program isn't for you. However, if you want a wider variety of dining options that is not offered by your limited Dining Plan, you might want to become a Tables in Wonderland Card Holder - that is, after you become an Annual Passholder.
The Tables in Wonderland Card also allows you to join special dinner events like the Indiana Jones Dinner, something that the Disney Dining Plan doesn't offer. It is accepted at every restaurant at Walt Disney, even at the ones that don't accept the Disney Dining Plan. Lastly, the value of your card increases as you use it, thereby making dining at Walt Disney less stressful on your wallet!
