How to Replace the Toshiba R500 SSD

    • 1). Turn off and unplug the unit. Turn the unit over and disconnect the battery pack from the underside.

    • 2). Remove the two screws on the memory compartment cover in the middle of the underside of the laptop. Lift the cover up to expose the memory module inside, as well as an orange ribbon cable.

    • 3). Unplug the orange ribbon cable from its port in the memory compartment.

    • 4). Remove all screws on the underside of the computer as well as the single screw located next to the power port on the left side of the computer.

    • 5). Lift the laptop base up and away from the computer by its side. The hard drive is now visible in the corner of the unit.

    • 6). Unplug the hard drive cable from the computer and remove the drive from the compartment.

    • 7). Plug your new drive cable into the port and fit the drive in place. Reverse the steps for reassembly.
