- 1). Tie a slip stitch at the tail end of the yarn and leave a 2-inch tail.
- 2). Insert the crochet hook into the loop. Make 16 chains. If you prefer a wider or narrower scarf, adjust the number of chains. A chain is made by pulling the yarn through the loop on the crochet hook.
- 3). Make a single crochet stitch in the second chain from the crochet hook. This is done by inserting the head of the hook through the top loop of the chain and grabbing the yarn with the hook. With two loops on the hook, grab the yarn with the hook and pull it through both loops.
- 4). Work a single crochet stitch through the remaining chains. Chain one and turn your work to the other side. The chain is worked as the first stitch of the next row.
- 5). Make a single crochet stitch in the second stitch from the hook. Do this for all of the stitches across. Repeat this process until the scarf is 36 inches long or the length you prefer.
- 6). Cut a 2-inch length from the hook after your last stitch is completed. Pull this yarn tail through the loop on the hook. Weave the tail, at each end, through the last row of stitches on your neck warmer.
