How to Replace a Broken Electrical Conduit

    • 1). Shut off the electricity flowing through the wires inside the broken conduit. Disconnect one end of the wires. This will allow you to pull one end of the wires out of the conduit. Be sure to pull a pull rope into the conduit as you are pulling the wire out. This provides you a means to pull the wires back into the conduit.

    • 2). Mark the conduit 2 inches on each side of the conduit break. Cut the conduit at these two points using the conduit saw. Make the cut smooth and straight. Loosen the support screws which hold the conduit in place using the screwdriver or socket wrenches.

    • 3). Cut a new piece of conduit the same length as the old piece that was removed. Place conduit connectors on each end of the new conduit and plug it into the existing conduit where the old section was. Resecure the conduit to the wall and pull the wires back through the conduit using the pull string. Finally, reconnect the wires that were disconnected.
