It has been said, "Excuses are like belly buttons, everybody's got one.
" Well, that statement is especially true for dieting.
Dieters have a ton of excuses.
Excuses for why the diet failed, why they can't exercise, why they can't eat certain foods, why they can't start the diet just yet.
To have success and achieve the desired weight loss the excuses must go.
Instead of excuses, let's look at the reasons for starting that diet, right now.
Reason #1- Why not? The number one reason for starting the diet right now is because none of the other excuses really hold water.
For each excuse you try to come up with you can shoot it down with ease.
No time? You already eat anyway, you're just changing how you do it.
Your family won't eat those meals? Why not, if the diet is based on healthy, nutritious eating get everyone on board.
Holidays are coming? What better time to start, have a thinner, merrier Christmas and a new you for the New Year.
Reason #2- Tomorrow won't be any better than today.
So many would-be dieters say, "I'll start it tomorrow.
" Unfortunately, tomorrow never comes.
Tomorrow stays tomorrow, until you make it today (pretty philosophical huh?) Simply, if you keep saying tomorrow you keep it within sight but conveniently out of reach.
There is nothing magical about tomorrow.
It won't be a better day for dieting, so start today.
Reason #3- You don't really need that last cookie or piece of cake.
A lot of people put off starting their weight loss plan so they can get in one last day of eating junk.
However, this act of indulgence makes starting the diet that much harder.
Make the decision to start and get started, don't procrastinate to justify eating that unneeded piece of cake.
Reason #4- Thin people stay thin through the Holidays.
"I will start on New Year's Day.
" "As soon as the Holidays are over, I'm starting my diet.
" Why? Start it before the holidays or during.
Sure, you can enjoy a splurge meal here and there, but keep eating healthy in between.
You can continue to exercise and eat healthy right through Thanksgiving, Christmas and the New Year.
(Besides it is a month between Thanksgiving and Christmas.
If you're honest with yourself, it is just a stall tactic so you can indulge without guilt.
) Reason #5- It doesn't matter when you start, getting over the initial step is the most important part.
The hardest part of any diet is making the commitment to start it.
Then sticking to the diet is as simple as reminding yourself why you started in the first place.
The most important step in any journey is the first.
Then the adventure of a thousand miles is simply putting one foot in front of the other.
So, stop procrastinating and start that diet today.
Not tomorrow or a year of tomorrows, today.
No matter what excuse you come up with, it is not worth your health.
