The iPhone Freezes When Playing Video Podcasts

    Low Battery

    • It's possible that you're having trouble viewing podcasts because they take up too much battery power and you don't have enough left. Charge your iPhone and then watch the podcast or plug in your iPhone while you're watching the podcast.

    Restart or Reset

    • Sometimes you can resolve playback errors simply by restarting your iPhone. Hold the "Sleep/Wake" button on the top of the phone until the "Slide to power off" tab appears. Slide it to turn it off. Press and hold the "Sleep/Wake" button again a few seconds later to restart the phone. If that method of restarting doesn't work or if your phone isn't responding, perform a reset. Hold the "Sleep/Wake" button simultaneously with the round "Home" button for at least 10 seconds and wait for the phone to reset itself.

    Update Software

    • To ensure optimal performance, update iTunes on your computer and the software and operating system your iPhone. ITunes will notify you when you open it if there's an update available. To update your iPhone, connect it to your computer, and then click it under Devices in iTunes and click the "Summary" tab. Click the "Update" button if it appears.

    Restore

    • If you can't seem to resolve errors, you can restore the iPhone to its original settings. This will wipe all of the files from the phone, but you won't lose any data if you back it up on your computer's iTunes. Connect your phone to the computer, open iTunes and click it under Devices. Click the "Summary" tab, and click "Restore."

    Video File Format

    • ITunes on your computer can support many video formats, but your iPhone can play only certain files, depending on which generation it is. ITunes converts files so they're viewable on your phone. If you have a video loaded on your phone, it should already be in a viewable format; otherwise iTunes wouldn't have been able to sync it. To verify that iTunes is converting video formats properly, however, you can convert a sample movie in iTunes. Download "sample_itunes.mov" or "sample_itunes" from Apple.com and add it to your iTunes library. Click it in your library and click the "Advanced" menu. Click "Create iPhone version." When it's done converting, it should appear in your library as an MPEG-4 video file. If it's not converting correctly, you may resolve the problem by re-installing iTunes.
