- Rock Creek Cabins, located near Great Smoky Mountains National Park, rents four one-bedroom, one-bath log cabins equipped with a full-sized kitchen, cookware and eating utensils. Each has a gas fireplace, premium satellite television and an outdoor hot tub. Bedrooms have queen-sized beds. The hosts supply paper products and linens. Smith Mill, the largest of the cabins, has a pond and water wheel and is within walking distance of the national park. A large covered front porch provides mountain views.
- Frog Holler Cabins, located in the Yadkin Valley Wine Region north of Charlotte, offer one bedroom and one bathroom overlooking Big Elkin Creek. Cabins have full kitchens, satellite television and Jacuzzi tubs. The hosts provide linens. The 28-acre property has a stocked fishing pond, horseshoe pits and walking trails. Elkin Creek Vineyard, Winery and Restaurant is across the creek and Frog Holler Wine Tours provides guided tours of all of the vineyards within 30 miles seven days a week.
- Pilot Knob Inn, located north of Winston-Salem, rents six 100-year-old tobacco-barn cabins. Each has one loft bedroom, a full bath with whirlpool tub and a wood-burning fireplace. Breakfast at the inn on the 100-acre property is included, and guests may take their breakfast back to the cabin with them. Pilot Knob's six-acre lake, stocked with catfish, bass, crappy and brim is private, so no fishing license is required. Use of a canoe, rowboats and paddleboats is complimentary.
- Located in Cape Hatteras on North Carolina's Outer Banks, Avon Cottages have Atlantic Ocean views. Cottages, designed with open floor plans combining the kitchen, dining room and living area, range in size from one to five bedrooms. All have central heat and air conditioning, television and Wi-Fi. Guests must provide their own linens, and a laundry facility is on the property. The one-bedroom Cottage 81, built on piers, has a large porch that wraps around the entire second story.
