How to Sterilize Glass Baby Bottles

    Cleaning Glass Baby Bottles

    • 1). Run the bottle under hot water after each use. Rinse all of the milk out of the bottle, turn the bottle to the side and run the threading of the top under the faucet, and then rinse the nipple as well. This will keep any milk from getting dried on the bottle.

    • 2). Dip your bottle/nipple cleaning brush in soapy water and give the bottle and nipple a light cleaning. Place the bottle on the upper rack of the dishwasher and put the nipples in a dishwasher-safe basket. You can use a basket that didn't come with the dishwasher as long as its dishwasher safe and has small enough holes that the nipples won't fall through.

    • 3). Wash the glass baby bottles by hand if you don't have a dishwasher. Fill a bowl or one sink with warm, soapy water, and place all of the bottles or nipples inside. Dip the cleaning brush in soap, and carefully wash each bottle and nipple while the others soak. Rinse the bottle, then place it on a drying rack that allows air to circulate up into the bottle so it dries completely.

    Sterilizing Glass Baby Bottles

    • 1). Sterilize your baby bottles before their first use, and also if you have a preemie baby, or a baby with immune disorders, as this is a sure-fire way to kill bacteria. To do this, begin by filling a pot with water and placing it over high heat.

    • 2). Drop the bottles and nipples inside the pan of water and allow it to come to a boil. Allow the bottles to boil for 5 minutes. While you wait, lay out a few paper towels on the counter top.

    • 3). Use tongs to remove the bottles, and place them upside down on the paper towels so all of the water drains out.
