- 1). Cut out a rectangle of gray fake fur that is 3 inches wide and long enough to wrap around the head plus 2 inches. This will form the hat band.
- 2). Fold the hat band in half (furry sides together), bringing the two shorter edges together. Sew the two short edges together to form a ring of fabric.
- 3). Cut out a circular piece of gray fake fur that is just big enough to fit on top of the hat band. Sew one of the raw edges of the hat band to the circle of fabric, forming the base of the hat.
- 4). Cut out six rectangles of fur, three gray and three black, that are each 7 inches long and 3 inches wide. Sew these fur rectangles together along the longer sides, alternating between gray and black. This will form the tail of the cap.
- 5). Cut the gray and black striped fur into an oval that is 12 inches long and 7 inches wide in the middle. Fold the fabric in half, fur to the inside, bringing the longer sides together. Sew along the raw edges, leaving a 2-inch opening in the seam.
- 6). Turn the tail right side out using the 2-inch opening, and sew the 2-inch opening closed. Sew one of the ends of the tail onto the bottom of the hat band so that it will hang down the back of the head when the hat is worn.
