How to Make a Group Birthday Card

Select heavy paper to make the birthday card -- it can be construction paper or a Bristol board. When choosing the paper, consider the size of the card. A regular-sized birthday card is sufficient if only a few people will be signing it; however, for a group of over five people, a larger card is recommended. A large-sized card not only gives more room for people to write their wishes, but allows for more creativity -- you can stick photos inside, for example, or draw caricatures of each person in the group.

Also, remember to choose a paper color that will be easy to work with. For example, choosing black construction paper will require you to write with special markers, so it might be easier to choose light-colored paper instead.

    • 2). Decide on a theme for the card, keeping in mind the age and personality of the birthday girl/boy. For example, choose a funny theme for someone with a good sense of humor. For a little girl who loves Disney, you may consider a Disney princess theme. The theme should be appropriate for the age of the individual celebrating a birthday.

    • 3). Create the card by folding the paper in half and designing the front. Choose an image that corresponds to your theme. It can be a drawing, a printed picture, a single photograph or a collage. You can be as creative as you want, adding extra decorations such as glitter and stickers.

    • 4). Write a message inside the card, in the middle of the right-side page. It can be a poem, a quote or a personal message from the group. It should be written/typed in large writing to stand out from the personal messages from each member of the group which will fill the rest of the inside.

Individually sign the birthday card, anywhere you prefer (on the inside of the card). Each person in the group should write at least two or three lines expressing good wishes for the birthday boy/girl. For an added touch, each person can mention a personal experience in their comments, such as an inside joke that they shared with the birthday boy/girl, or how they enjoy their company at school/work.

    • 6). Add extra decorations inside the card where there are gaps between signatures/messages. You can draw balloons, add small photos or even funny caricatures of each person from the group.
