- 1). Click the Windows "Start" button and enter "cmd" into the search text box. Press the "Enter" key on the keyboard to open the Windows command line.
- 2). Enter "shutdown /?" into the command line and press "Enter." This displays the proper syntax and options for the command. This is helpful if you forget the proper syntax for the shutdown command.
- 3). Enter "shutdown /r /m \\Windows200Machine" into the command line and press "Enter." Replace "Windows2000Machine" with the name of your computer. The "/r" switch instructs the Windows 2000 machine to reboot.
- 4). Enter the administrator password if you are prompted. You will only be prompted if you are not already logged into the network as an administrator.
