Fat burning diets are something of a buzz-word, and highlight a desire to get rid of fat, which is the obvious problem for someone who is over weight.
Diets themselves don't burn fat, it is the mechanism of the digestive system which will do that given the right circumstances.
There are certain foods which help the body to burn off or get rid of fat from the system and adding these foods to your diet will help you to lose fat not muscle.
You can make up a list if these foods and build a diet around them, but unless you have an understanding of nutrition you may find that you have ended up with an unbalanced diet and encounter unwanted health effects.
Which Are Fat Burning Foods? Some foods which could be termed 'fat burners' are lemons, oranges, limes, and grapefruit, which are rich in vitamin C.
The vitamin C dilutes the fat and aids in removing it from the body.
Apples also help in ridding the body of fat, but in a different way.
Pectin in the apples lessens the cells ability to absorb fat and because it increases water absorption from food it helps to release the fat.
Some recent research has found that calcium from cheese, yoghurt and milk increase fat breakdown in fat cells there-by helping in the removal of the fat and assisting in weight loss.
These can therefore be included with the fat burning foods.
The research also showed that 3-4 servings of dairy products were more effective at helping weight loss than calcium supplements on their own.
Other foods which can be added to the list of fat burners are beet root, cabbage, sweet potatoes, soy beans, carrots, broccoli and asparagus.
What To Do.
You could create a diet to suit your own requirements, but be sure it has a sound nutritional basis.
Alternatively begin by incorporating a few of the fat burning foods into your normal meals.
If you wish to lose weight, begin by making a few changes to your normal eating habits:- ·serve up smaller helpings ·Introduce more vegetables and fruit to your meals ·Avoid snacking between meals, ( drink a glass of water if you are hungry) ·Drink plenty of fluid (up to 8 glasses of water per day are recommended) ·Ensure you get reasonable exercise each day.
If this seems rather complicated, there are excellent programs which have healthy balanced diets and help you to lose fat not muscle.
