Immunology is the branch of science that studies the human body's immune system. Prevalence into this field of research can lead to a better understanding of the human body and aid immensely in drug creation and disease prevention. Funding, in the form of research grants, for immunology research is provided primarily by governmental institutions, but some private institutions also provide funding for immunology research as well. - The National Institutes of Health (NIH) claims to be the largest source of funding for medical science research in the world and is the United States' primary medical science research agency. The NIH supports more than 300,000 research scientists and engineers at more than 3,000 universities and research institutions throughout the world. The NIH provides funding for high-scientific caliber projects, investigator-related research and unique research projects, such as studies into immunology.
