How to Get Earwigs Out of My Corn Plants

    • 1). Set traps for the earwigs to collect large numbers for disposal. Roll up wet newspapers and place them around the plants, or use empty cans with some fish oil or vegetable oil and a touch of bacon fat.

    • 2). Collect the earwigs each morning and shake them into a bowl or bucket that contains soapy water.

    • 3). Reduce or eliminate earwig hiding places near the plants to encourage them to move elsewhere. Get rid of weeds, vines and any other ground cover around your corn plants that earwigs may like.

    • 4). Apply an insecticide for crawling insects if your other efforts are unsuccessful. Use it in the evening before the earwig's typical feeding time.
