What Are Hot Fix Crystals?

If you would like to add a little sparkle to your holiday table cloth, a jacket, purse or quilt or some other cloth object then you may want to try your hand at using hot fix crystals.
Hot fixed crystals are specially designed crystals with glue on the back that can be attached to your fabric by either an iron or a special tool designed for putting these crystals right where you want them on your fabric.
In order to use hot fix crystals you need to plan out your design and mark where you want each crystal to be placed.
You then place the crystals one at a time on each mark.
While you can use an iron, the specialized tool is better designed for placing the crystals.
Using the hot fix crystal applicator, all you need to do is make sure you have the correct size attachment for the size of crystals you are using and then plug in the applicator allow it to get hot then pick up your chosen crystal using the applicator itself and press it to the spot you want it to go for a couple of seconds and the crystal adheres to the material.
You do want to make sure that your material can withstand the heat of the applicator and hot glue before beginning your project.
Variety of Designs You can create an amazing variety of designs using hot fix crystals.
Whether you just want a few crystals placed here and there to brighten up an object or whether you want to create an intricate design on your jacket or purse these crystals will help you accomplish that task.
There are even stencils you can purchase to help you lay out a design.
You can scatter crystals on your favorite pair of jeans or create a flower or other designs on the pocket or knee.
You can turn a simple pair of tennis shoes into a work of art and add dazzle to that BBQ apron.
You can even add a bit of dazzle to that hand sewn quilt or throw pillow and even some paper art.
Care Of Hot Fix Crystal Designs The manufacturers of hot fix crystals recommend that you hand wash any items you affix these crystals to as over time the rough and tough wear of the tumble washing and the hot dryer can make the crystals come loose from their mirrored backs leaving shiny silver spots on your article of clothing in place of the crystal.
If you do choose to use a washing machine to clean anything with the hot fix crystals on them, it is best to wash these clothes in warm water on a delicate cycle and then hang them up to dry.
They also recommend choosing smaller crystals as they are less likely to get pried off and they look better than larger crystals do.
Hot fix crystals can add a little sparkle to all kinds of material and clothing and help you to create your own original designs on handbags, jackets, shirts, jeans and many other items.
They are easy to apply and with a little practice you can have some wonderful designs.
