- 1). Load an image that you want to use as the basis for your pattern onto your computer.
- 2). Open Photoshop. Select “File” and choose “Open.” In the dialog box that appears, browse to the image that you loaded and open it.
- 3). Select “Edit” from the menu and choose “Canvas Size.” In the dialog box that appears, increase the size of the canvas to 200 percent.
- 4). Right-click on the layer and choose “Duplicate Layer.”
- 5). Select “Edit” from the menu and choose “Transform.” From the options, choose “Flip Horizontal.” Use the “Move” tool to place the two copies in the upper corners of the canvas. Then right-click on the top layer and choose “Merge Down.”
- 6). Right-click on the layer and choose “Duplicate Layer.”
- 7). Select “Edit” from the menu and choose “Transform.” From the options, choose “Flip Vertical.” Use the “Move” tool to place the the two copies in the lower half of the canvas. Then right click on the top layer and choose “Merge Down.”
- 8). Select “File” from the menu and choose “Save As.” In the dialog box that appears, save your file as a JPEG.
